Amazon Just Announced a Major Change That’s Sending Shockwaves Through the UK Seller Community
Starting July 1, 2026, Amazon UK FBA will no longer provide prep services or item labelling for sellers. This is something we predicted at Blue30 as EU marketplaces normally follow the US and Amazon stopped providing FBA prep services in the US on January !st 2026. We was also aware of Amazons RFP to find a partner to cover this service on their behalf that was launched in November 2025. We have been working hard in anticipation for such event and have been increasing our capacity to assist Amazon sellers and brands with their FBA prep requirements.
If you currently rely on Amazon to label your products, polybag items, or step in when shipments arrive without proper prep—this is a major shakeup. For many small and mid-sized UK sellers, this policy change could disrupt established fulfilment workflows overnight.
Let’s break down what’s changing, what it means for your business, and how you can stay ahead with reliable FBA prep support and third-party prep centres.
What Did Amazon UK Announce?
"Starting from July 1, 2026, we’ll no longer offer prep and label services for Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) shipments in our European stores. This change also applies to FBA inventory from Amazon Global Logistics (AGL), Amazon SEND and Multi-Channel Fulfilment."
This update applies to all inventory routed to UK FBA fulfilment centres, including shipments via:
Direct FBA shipments
Amazon Warehousing & Distribution (AWD)
Amazon SEND
Amazon Global Logistics (AGL)
The Supply Chain Portal
Amazon states that improvements in how sellers prep and package inventory have led to this shift aiming to streamline operations and improve delivery times. As a result, they’re stepping away from offering any internal FBA prep services in the UK.

What Are Amazon UK FBA Prep Requirements?
If you’re unfamiliar or have been relying on Amazon’s in-house prep, now’s the time to take full control of your product preparation.
Every unit sent to Amazon FBA in the UK must:
Be properly prepped (e.g., bubble-wrapped, polybagged, bundled)
Include a scannable barcode (FNSKU, UPC, EAN, or Transparency code)
Be accurately labelled and packaged according to Amazon’s strict guidelines
If not? Your products could:
Be rejected at the fulfilment centre
Become stranded stock
Require costly removal or rework
Be ineligible for reimbursement if lost or damaged
Why It Matters?
Amazon FBA prep has long been a crucial safety net—especially for sellers without dedicated warehousing. With this change?
You’re fully responsible for prepping your inventory before it hits Amazon’s fulfilment centres.
This impacts:
Brands shipping directly from overseas manufacturers
High-volume sellers that require intensive labelling or bundling
New sellers still learning Amazon compliance
To stay compliant and avoid fulfilment delays, you’ll need a solid prep solution—whether in-house, via your supplier, or through a third-party prep centre.

What Should Sellers Do Now?
1. Establish a Prep Strategy Decide whether to handle prep in-house, through your manufacturer, or with an FBA prep centre.Make sure all shipments meet Amazon’s packaging and labelling standards before they leave your warehouse.
2. Partner with a Trusted UK FBA Prep Service With Amazon stepping out, many sellers are turning to third-party FBA prep centres.A top-tier provider will offer:
FNSKU labelling
Polybagging and safety prep
Bundling and kitting
Custom inspection and packaging
Optional storage and shipping to Amazon FBA
3. Reserve Space Early With this announcement affecting tens of thousands of UK sellers, prep centre demand will spike. Lock in capacity now to avoid delays and premium fees.
Can Your Manufacturer Handle FBA Prep?
Some can. But in reality, many manufacturers:
Aren’t familiar with Amazon’s packaging/labelling rules
Don’t apply FNSKU or Transparency labels correctly
Lack the quality control required for FBA compliance
That’s why most growing brands rely on specialised UK-based Amazon prep centres to ensure error-free, compliant shipments.
